Château de Chambord

Château de Chambord

We walked toward the Chateau de Chambord with dark storm clouds shuffling past. As we turned a corner, it came into view, a spectacular sight. Building began in the early part of the Sixteenth Century by King Francois 1 and it contains over 440 rooms. It has a unique double helix staircase rumored to have been designed by Leonardo Da Vinci, in which those ascending never meet those descending. The top is a fantastic mix of towers, turrets and other architectural features. For a gallery of images please visit.
