Webster's Falls, Ontario

Webster’s Falls, Ontario

This is one of the most visited waterfalls in Ontario, and it’s popularity is well-deserved. It has a park area around the top which is a great place for a family picnic. There is a stairs that allows easy access to the base (Closed at the moment). You can also get a more panoramic view by walking up to the opposite bank. You can reach this area by taking Brock Rd. south off of Highway 5. Turn left onto Harvest Rd, and then right onto Short Rd, which will shortly lead you to parking for the conservation area.

Some of these images were taken from the base of the falls. The steps leading to the base have recently been closed for safety reasons.

Indian Falls near Owen Sound, Ontario is one of the nicest looking falls in Ontario, although its flow can be greatly reduced at times. Go north on Second Ave. W., off Highway 10, west of Owen Sound. This road becomes Grey Road 1 and continues to Balmy Beach. Park at Indian Falls Conservation area and follow the easy trail to the falls.

Whitefish Falls is located in…well. Whitefish Falls 🙂 on Highway 6, 25 km. north of Little Current Ontario. Distant view are marred by the bridge and culvert over top but their are some nice close up details in the color and shapes of the rocky banks.

Great Falls: Ontario Waterfalls

Waterdown Falls, Ontario

Waterdown Falls, Ontario

This waterfall goes by a number of names including also Waterdown Falls, Grindstone Falls, Grand Falls, Smokey Hollow Falls and Waterdown Falls. Great Falls is probably my least favorite but it seems to be becoming accepted. Grindstone Falls has a nice ring to it but there is a falls by that name north of Thessalon. Personally I like Waterdown Falls.

The Grindstone Creek which flows through Waterdown, Ontario formerly powered a number of foundries and mill, and the resulting smoke gave the area the name Smoky Hollow. The Great Falls over this creek is a very accessible waterfall and a pleasure to visit. You can reach it by going south on Mill St. in Waterdown, from the Highway 5 intersection (Dundas St.) As you go down a hill to the left, you will see the small parking lot on your right.
