It looks like you’ve got some amazing shots. It’s incredibly difficult for me to get great pictures of birds flying like that, you’ve done a great job.

Hi Hans:

There is a hunting season where the Owl Woods is closed, and that is until about Dec.8-10 each year.

The access road is not maintained, and later in the winter it is not passable. The walk in is about 2km and usually very cold.

Therefore I think the best time is first week in December to mid January. Of course, the rest of the Island is still good for Snowy and Short-eared Owls.
