Snapping Turtles- Laying Eggs (Video)

At this time of year, Snapping Turtles are digging in and laying eggs, and a favorite spot is the edges of gravel roads near their marsh. The first clip is a large female digging in and the second is a small female laying eggs.

It isn’t unusual to come by the next day and see leathery white egg casings,as there are many predators like foxes, raccoons, skunks, and mink who are happy to make a meal of them.
