Slaty Flower-Piercer, Diglossa plumbea
The Slaty Flower-Piercer, Diglossa plumbea, is a fairly common species in the Highlands of Costa Rica and Panama. It does pierce the base of flowers with its upturned bill in order to feed on the nectar.
