Showy Lady’s Slipper

Just a few miles from house, in a swampy area of open woods, I noted a stand of fist sized flowers. It was a the beautiful northern orchid called Showy Lady’s Slipper. I had never seen it before, it was more than ample reward for getting a bit damp in the rain.
