California Torch Cactus

The Sonoran Desert is a North American desert which straddles part of the United States-Mexico border and covers large parts of the U.S. states of Arizona and California, and the Mexican state of Sonora.

It is one of the largest and hottest deserts in North America with an area of 120,000 square miles (311,000 sq. km.).

One of the best places to learn about the Sonora desert is the Arizona State Desert Museum which contains representative plants and animals. Most of these images were taken there.
