Old Tobacco Kiln

Old Tobacco Kiln

This is the old style of tobacco kiln that was standard for decades. As the tobacco leaves dried, more air was allowed in at various times by raising the side slots. Now they seem mainly to be made of aluminum and look like trailers but there are still some old style around.

We have sandy soil around the top of lake Erie and it seems to thrive there.
