Herb-Robert, Geranium robertianum

Herb-Robert, Geranium robertianum

While walking a woodland trail along the Niagara escarpment here in Ontario, I noticed a delicate violet flower with fern like leaves. It reminded me of Wild Geranium although much smaller.

A little research and I found it was indeed a Geranium. It is called Herb-Robert, Geranium robertianum. It is known from Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as here in North America. It apparently favors woodland with rocks and indeed it was growing from a crack in a rock.
