Harrington Gristmill: Ontario’s Old Mills

Built as a gristmill in Harrington by a United Empire Loyalist named D.L. Demorest. It initially operated by an overshot waterwheel but this was replaced a water driven turbine in the 1880s. It operated from 1846 until 1966 with a couple of interruptions due to a 1924 fire and dam breaks in 1903 and 1949.
