  3. Hi Harold,

    Well..lol.. of course I had to check my female cardinal images after reading your post. I had not noticed this until your mention. But I do have several images of female Northern Cardinals with a prominent red eyebrow. Some were photographed when I lived in your area and some were photographed here in Owen Sound (Ont.). Interesting!

  6. Harold, I looked at my female Cardinal images and they all show red above and below the eye, not penciled in a delicately as in your image, but drawn more with broader brush. I had not noticed this detail before.

  7. Thanks Hilke, it seems like the females all have some measure of red but it is only a few where it is this distinct.
