This wonderful bridge was washed away by flooding caused by Hurricane Irene (August 28/ 2011). This is sad news about one of North America’s most magnificent structures.
Blenheim Covered Bridge, New York

Builders: Nichols Powers
Description: This is a magnificent structure, the world’s longest single span covered bridge at 228 feet. On top of that it is two lane. It has an interesting structure made up of Long Trusses with a Center Arch.

Description: Refurbished in 1998, this bridge looks sharp with barn red sides and white portals. It is just 3.5 miles from the Vermont border.

Buskirk Covered Bridge, New York
When Built: 1857 (Rebuilt in 2005)
Builders:Peter Osterhauth, Charles Newman and James Roberts with Charles Ingalls (Sub-contractor)
Description:This is the only New York Covered Bridge which spans two counties (Washington and Rensselaer). It is a single span of 165 feet.

Description: Found at the entrance to Beaverkill State Park, it is a single span of 98 feet with a Town Truss. A swimming area and picnic tables make it a good place for a family outing.
