Rowell Covered Bridge, New Hampshire

When Built: 1853

Builders: Horace, Enoch and Warren Childs

Description: This bridge has a history of instability, in its early days vibrations of cattle moving through it shook it off its abutments and in 1930 a center pier was added.The sides are open in the top half and the roof has a large overhang.

Blair Covered Bridge, New Hampshire

Builders: Unknown

Description: This bridge was rehabilitated by Milton Graton and his son Arnold in 1977. The Long truss system had Burr Arches added. It is a beautiful structure with windows in each span giving it a nice balance.

Sulphite Railroad Covered Bridge, New Hampshire


When Built: 1896

Builders: Boston and Maine Railroad

Description: This has often been called the “upside down” bridge because the rail tracks were on top of what would be considered the roof of the bridge.  The bridge was destroyed in a fire in 1980.

Builders: Arnold Graton and Associates

Description: The original covered bridge was built in 1845 by an unknown builder and it was destroyed by arson in 1993. An authentic rebuild was completed in 1994 by Arnold Graton and Associates.
