Niagara Falls in Winter

Niagara Falls in Winter

I always try to make an annual winter visit to Niagara Falls, and not only because there are no crowds to contend with. The spray from the falls creates amazing ice formations, and a fresh snow adds to it.  Add a bit of good light and its magic.

A new Ontario Waterfall

Whirlpool Falls, Ontario

This may be an undescribed Ontario waterfall, I’ve never seen it listed. It is in the Niagara Region and can be seen from the lookout that is at the halfway point for the Aero Car ride at the Whirlpool Rapids. I would estimate it is about 300 m. southeast of the Aero car ticket office. The outflow is from a culvert and is fairly good.

This is the fourth Ontario waterfall I’ve blundered across. The others are a falls on Pedlar’s Road east of Eau Claire Gorge Falls, a falls by Barron Canyon Road in the eastern section of Algonquin, and a falls off ON-41.

Warning: It can be dangerous to view and photograph waterfalls. The footing can be wet and slippery, and an accidental fall can result in serious injury or death. Note also that many sections of waterfalls are on private property. Please respect these rights.
