
The Black-footed Albatross, Phoebastria nigripes, is the common albatross seen on Oregon pelagics, in fact it is virtually a certainy to see. Click below for a video of a Black-footed takeoff:
It is one of the smaller members of the family, mostly dark with varying portion of lighter feathers behind the bill. They nest in the Hawaiian Islands as well as islands off of Japan.
