The courtyard of the Louvre, Paris

The courtyard of the Louvre, Paris

It played a prominent part in Dan Brown’s bestseller “The Da Vinci Code“, the pyramids in the courtyard of the world’s largest museum, the Louvre in Paris. When combined with great fountains and reflecting pools all backed up by a building that was once the world’s grandest palace, it provides photographers with plenty to play with. However, you want to get here early before the crowds arrive.

The pyramids are a recent addition to the Louvre museum complex, completed in 1989. As expected, the futuristic design caused great controversy but I think it has been a very successful fusion, which not incidentally, solved the bottleneck entry problem the museum had been suffering.
