Delta Mill: Ontario’s Old Mills

William Jones built this beautiful stone mill in the village of Delta in 1810, and it is one of the oldest grist mills that has survived. In my opinion, it is the best mills in Ontario for photographers and visitors. It is also known as the Old Stone Mill.

Faucet Falls: Ontario Waterfalls

To reach Faucet Falls Highway QEW (Niagara) take exit 49 southeast and merge onto King’s Hwy 406.Take the St.David’s Rd West/County Rd-71 exit, merge onto St David’s Rd. and turn left at Merrittville Hwy.Take the 1st right onto Decew Rd. There is a parking lot and it is well signed. View Larger Map

The bottom of the gorge can be very difficult to get to. It either involves a dangerous decent near the falls or a long walk along the trail behind the mill to a point where it is safer to descend, and then making your way back upstream to the base of the falls. Faucet Falls flows from a culvert in the gorge wall between Decew and Lower Decew Falls.

Latta Mill Ruins: Ontario’s Old Mills

The site of the mill was purchased by John Latta in 1833. Little else is known of it’s history although it was apparently demolished about 1995.

Bells Falls: Ontario Waterfalls

Bells Falls is not among the largest but it can be a very nice place to spend some time, to hear the rush of water and song of small birds, against a natural landscape of colorful rock. To reach it take Highway 129 north from Highway 17 at Thessalon, and drive about 20 to Algoma Road 554. Go to the right for about 10 km. to the Little White River. Just before the bridge, take a right and the first road on the left takes you to the river and Bells Falls.
